Meet Jennika - service and operations manager
Hello Jennika!
Who are you?
I am a creative and curious person, raised in the countryside outside Gothenburg among fields, horses and a general store – today living in Stockholm.
Animals and nature have always been close to my heart, as has being able to be creative. I enjoy painting and am currently trying to learn to sew (the sewing machine is alive – for now).
My free time is filled with friends, exercise, podcasts, series and baking a little now and then.

What is your work task at VR?
I started in January 2019 when the trains were still red, and have been with the company ever since – from service manager to traffic safety instructor, and now operations manager. It’s been 6.5 years at the company and I’ve seen both change and development up close.
In my role as a service and operation manager my days are varied and intensive with a lot of responsibility, where I plan, staff, resolve emergencies and ensure that production runs smoothly – literally.
What is the best thing with your job?
My colleagues, without a doubt. We have incredible fun together, and support each other through both stress and laughter!
What is you best VR memory?
There are many, but some moments stand out – like early mornings on board where I managed to catch the sunrise through the train window, or our hotel stays where you got a little everyday luxury. Nowadays there are filled with laughter in the operations manager’s room – the kind where you have to close the door to not disturb!
How is it to work both day and evening/night shifts?
It's fun to have variety, the day and afternoon sessions offer pace and teamwork, while the nights are calmer and more independent. For the night shifts, all you need to do is bring the right snacks, warm clothes and maybe an extra pinch of patience.
Tell any fun fact about you?
I've visited 23 countries – most recently Botswana. Some of the coolest things I've done are spotting lions from horseback, galloping with zebras and seeing elephants. You never forget something like that!
